You saw it here first! The all new Google.com! If you follow me on Twitter, @austinprime, you would have seen it even sooner! :) Here are the screenshots taken from my school’s computer.

Not everyone is able to see it yet, including myself on this computer. I was the only one at my school that was able to see this ‘new Google.’ Other reports on Twitter say they are also starting to see this! Do you see it? Do you like the changes?

AustinPrimeOnline.com is NO MORE! You can still go to AustinPrimeOnline.com, however AustinPri.me is my new brand.

With a new domain name, there must be a new logo. The old Austin Prime Online text at the top of the site was getting old and bland. It was two lines, so I changed it to Austin Prime to make it only one line. Well, now with the new brand name I designed a very simple logo to do away with the text header. (Tweaks may be made to the logo over the next few days.)

Changes you may/may not notice; I did away with the bottom bar on the site and added a Follow me button on the right of the site. I also added a social media network sharing bar at the bottom of each blog post. (You should use it!) The forum also has been removed. I realize that this is the second time I’ve tried to get a forum running and it was a fail again.

Why did I change the name? Well because AustinPrimeOnline.com was a super long domain name and I was noticing many disadvantages on Twitter. Not only that but Austin Prime Online just sounds lame. Don’t you agree that AustinPri.me is a lot more clean?

Anyway this is probably one of my most poorly written blog posts. :) Just wanted to keep all my readers up to date! Thanks for the continued support!

Post your comments on what you think of the new changes. If you have any suggestions please post them in the comments!

Call me a dork, but I look forward to seeing the Google logos on holidays! Today is Columbus Day and I assumed that Google would have a Columbus Day Google logo. Well to my surprise, there was nothing. So I opened up Yahoo to see if they had anything and they had nothing, AOL, nothing, YouTube, nothing. Normally these search engines at least have some type of mention of a holiday on their logo.

Apparently not ALL of the search engines left out Columbus Day. Microsoft’s Bing.com is celebrating Columbus Day with an interactive front page with information about the holiday. I think it looks very nice and clean as always. I’m personally starting to grow fond of the informative and clean front page Bing.com presents.

In 2006, Ask.com had a Columbus Day themed front page, but Google has never recognized the holiday.

Do you think people just do not care about Columbus Day anymore? Is there too much controversy over the holiday? Or is this just not a worthy holiday of being discussed? Post your answers to these questions in the comments! :)

It’s that time again! Time for a website update. Today I spent some time adding a new theme and a few new features.

As you can see the new theme is “Twitter-like.” I love the simplicity of the design, and I hope you do too!

I’ve released a few new features such as the new “Share” icons at the bottom of the posts. A new Donation page has been made to help me pay for all my website expenses. Lastly, I added another ‘Twitter-like” feature. In the comments you can now do @username to refer to the person you are speaking to!

Thanks for all of your support and enjoy the new features!

I’m super excited about the new design I have rolled out here on AustinPrimeOnline.com. If it reminds you of FaceBook, well good, that’s what it’s supposed to do! It has come to my attention that APO was difficult for some people to understand, so I decided Facebook seems to be super popular and everyone understands it, so why not use it as my site’s theme?!

With the new features I have temporarily removed all google ads because I was noticing some glitches that I needed to fix, so enjoy the ad free site for now! With the glitches, if you are subscribed to my RSS feed and have noticed any problems with this update, please let me know as soon as you can.

One of the new features I have released is a feature that I had on the old AustinPrimeOnline.com from about 6 months ago. This feature is the feature that allows you to leave video and or audio comments! Why post boring text comments when you can use your webcam or computer microphone to leave a comment? Way cool! You guys should test it out on this post!

I have also updated the Gravatar settings. So now when you post comments, an image is automatically generated by ‘wavatar.’ If you don’t like your image, you can change it by going to Gravatar.com and signing up with the email address you used here. This will make it easier to make conversation in the comments. Matching images makes things easier to follow.

I think that is it for now! If you have any further suggestions or notice anything wrong let me know in the contact form in the menu!
